Styled Shoots

Fruity Florals at Sidney & Matilda | Sheffield Styled Warehouse Wedding Shoot

The sun’s out! So what better way to celebrate than to reminisce on a beautifully bright styled shoot we worked on last year, recently featured on Bride & Tonic

When an idea pops into your head, sometimes you just have to quickly act on it before you start to obsess about it too much and all other work gets put aside - which is definitely what happened with this inspiration shoot in the heart of Sheffield. Luckily, we have an amazing amount of incredibly talented suppliers based right in our Steel City who can pull a plan together quickly – and very effectively! Using homegrown talent was something we really wanted to try and champion to try and encourage shopping local wherever possible.

The Stationery

For some, it’s the most important part of your wedding as it sets the tone for your whole day and gives your guests a taste of what to expect! As a Wedding Stationer it’s often tricky to predict upcoming trends/what couples will want for their weddings, for the next season, as everything has to be done so far in advance. I wanted to create a new in-house customisable collection - B R A M B L E - that would work all year round; to reflect the fun of Summer using corals, blues, figs and grapefruit whilst being inspired by the changes in seasons with twigs and berries. I decided on a tri-fold design with detachable RSVP’s as I absolutely love the amount of print and pattern you can get on them, and a tri-fold is the most popular choice when couples order bespoke invitations.

Alongside the invitations I designed a welcome sign, individual menus with square place settings tied around each one with twine, which are all ready to order, and I hand painted a backdrop because I typically work in fine liners at my desk and rarely ever get to work on a large scale and get my paintbrushes out!

The Photography

I’m lucky enough to have worked with Ellie of Ellie Grace Photography for years, she is my go-to stationery (and dog) Photographer and completely knew the look we were going for from the moment we started discussing it. We wanted the industrial city-centre venue to look both light and fun whilst also being cosy and relaxing - which is what any wedding should be! – and the photos perfectly reflect that. The big warehouse doors were also painted in a bright coral and blue, which fitted nicely into our theme and provided some amazing backdrops.

The Flowers

As flower enthusiasts, we had decided we would go down the route of ‘more is more’ and when T of Campbells Flowers told me she was bringing a massive branch covered in flowers to suspend from the ceiling, I knew we were onto something good. It juxtaposed with the exposed brick and white walls of Sidney & Matilda perfectly. A wild, overgrown table centrepiece sat directly underneath, framing the backdrop and scaffold table beautifully. I absolutely loved how everything came together on the day, from the two different oversized bouquets to how well the menus sat with the table flowers, and not to mention Jasper the dogs collar flowers! Having a creative florist (that can see into your brain) really pays off!

The Videography

As we’ve all worked together before on many real weddings and creative projects, we decided Danni of Maytree Photography should do a behind the scenes video to document the day. Having seen videos that both Danni & Ellie have done, it really is something worth investing in! She captured moments that I missed because I was tying menus together and many moments of my dog Jasper, of course, getting involved.

The Styling

Flick, Ellie and Liah (who was also one of our beautiful models!) from Inner City Weddings brought their scaffold table and vintage chairs, which worked so well in the stripped back venue. Candles with black candlesticks sat beautifully with gold Campbells candlesticks and transformed the table into something really romantic. All of their items are available to hire within their wedding packages, and it’s so nice to see all the different ways you can use them.

The hair and make-up

Izzy Rose came up with two completely different looks, one bright and bold and one gold and smoky, not only reflect the dresses (from The White Yard and Temperley) perfectly, but also work incredibly well next to each other. The models, Grace and Liah, looked incredible! It was also pretty chilly in there and you couldn’t tell at all.

 The Dresses

Liah wore the stunning floor length ‘Wren’ gown by E&W Couture, from The White Yard, and Grace wore a short, older version of the new season Temperley bridal ‘fitted Toledo’ dress. Both very daring and fully embroidered and we absolutely loved them together.

The Cake

Sara from The Bake Lab took one look at the inspiration board and came up with not one, but two cakes that fit wonderfully with the pastel colour scheme and fruity theme. One was semi-naked with gold leaf touches and the second was a smaller pink and orange watercolour cake, decorated with fruit and flowers. She had to fight everyone off stealing a bite all day, as they looked too delicious!

The Paper-cutting

Zoe is an amazing paper-cutting artist and hand cut some super bright leaves to create a 3D backdrop at the venue, with only very vague ideas from me. It was so nice for both of us to work on something larger scale, and to have some collaborations in the pipeline.

The Chocolates

Kate of Cocoa Wonderland, a little chocolate shop gem in Sheffield, made us some one off chocolates to fit with the colour scheme, that filled one of her trademark gold chocolate boxes, and were then wrapped with a custom band I designed to hold the box together – perfect for thank you gifts for your guests or to put on your tables with the coffee. Individual chocolate bars with different flavours are also now available to order as favours, with any of my in-house collection designs, or completely bespoke to fit your wedding theme.

The Models

Both auburn haired beauties, Grace and Liah, are good friends and looked stunning in their embroidered gowns. Jasper the dog is the third auburn haired beauty and was desperate to get involved.
